Travelers Aid has relaunched the Stranded Traveler Program

February 14, 2023 by Ryan Capra

Travelers Aid would like to announce that the agency is once again operating traditional stranded traveler services.  Due to the pandemic, our Greyhound location was closed in March 2020 and will not be reopening.  Traditional services will now operate from our main location on the Boulevard of the Allies.

The Stranded Traveler Program will also assist victims of Domestic Violence. In cases of Domestic Violence, Travelers Aid requires the following in order to consider assistance with Greyhound services to reach a place of safety:

* Referral from a Domestic Violence Shelter or current police report

 *  Verification of acceptance at the destination (family, friend or shelter holding a bed)

Assistance is provided in the form of Greyhound bus tickets or the most cost-effective means to allow transit to the client’s home or stable environment. Assistance is usually limited to one incident only (with exceptions depending upon the situation). Travelers Aid cannot provide assistance for clients to return to Allegheny County from another state or location.

Traditional Services will operate between the hours of 9am-3pm.  If you have a client requiring assistance reaching a place of safety outside of Allegheny County, please call Travelers Aid at (412) 281-5474.
